Arden & GEM Commissioning Support Unit (CSU) has won a prestigious Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Supply Management Award in the ‘Best Public Procurement Project’ category.
Respected as a benchmark for procurement and supply chain excellence, the awards took place in London on 13 September 2017. The CSU’s procurement team was recognised in the ‘Best Public Procurement Project’ category, against a shortlist of six, for a highly complex procurement programme to improve community services across Nottinghamshire.
By bringing together six Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Nottinghamshire Hospice, the procurement aimed to transform fragmented community service in the county. The project involved exceptional collaboration between partners and providers, and close stakeholder engagement throughout. Patients and service users were involved at every step of the process using a wide range of methods including online surveys, engagement events and an elected representative for young people with disabilities.
The initiative achieved £12.04m in savings while also improving patient outcomes. The judges described the project as “well thought-out with robust planning” and were particularly impressed by the “innovative use of technology”.
